Privacy Policy
ThrowLab is a disc golf analysis app for iPhone. This policy explains what the app accesses, why it needs that access, and where your information goes. The short version: throw analysis runs on your iPhone. Your videos are not uploaded for analysis, and no ThrowLab account is required.
Event email signup
If you use a ThrowLab event email signup form, we store your first name, email address, signup date, event source, and consent version in a Cloudflare-hosted database. We use them to send ThrowLab updates and instructions for the first-year offer. Signup does not start a subscription. We do not sell this list. To unsubscribe, correct your information, or request deletion, email support@throwlabapp.com. We retain signup information until you request deletion or it is no longer needed for these purposes. Cloudflare processes this data to host the website and database. Event signup pages do not load website analytics.
Information we collect in the app
ThrowLab has no user accounts or advertising SDKs. ThrowLab does not collect or store your name, email address, throw videos, tracked frames, measurements, or analysis results on ThrowLab servers. The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to collect limited app-usage information as described below.
Camera and video
ThrowLab requests camera access to record throws and assist distance measurements. Camera images used during distance measurement are processed temporarily on your iPhone and are not saved or uploaded. Selected video is copied temporarily on the iPhone and analyzed on the device with Apple’s Vision framework. ThrowLab does not upload or transmit your video.
Photo library
ThrowLab requests photo-library access so you can select an existing slow-motion throw video. Only the video you choose is read. The app does not scan or upload your photo library.
Distance tracking and location
Distance tracking uses camera and device-motion information on your iPhone to estimate the distance between positions you mark. Measurement camera frames are not recorded, saved, or uploaded. Location information is used to support available measurement information and request local wind estimates from Apple Weather. Flight video analysis does not require location access.
Distance tracking runs while the app is open. ThrowLab does not continuously track your movements in the background. An unfinished measurement may temporarily store measurement and location information on your device. Saved results include distance, quality information, available elevation and wind estimates, date, disc, throwing style, and intended line. Saved distance throws do not include GPS positions. ThrowLab does not upload a walking route or send measurement camera frames, location coordinates, or distance results to Firebase Analytics or ThrowLab servers.
You can manage Camera and Location Services permissions in iPhone Settings. You can delete saved distance throws in the app. Changing permissions does not delete saved results.
Wind estimates and Apple Weather
ThrowLab uses Apple Weather through WeatherKit to provide local wind estimates for distance tracking. A weather request sends location information to Apple so it can return weather conditions for that area. This is separate from the on-device processing used for video analysis and distance calculations.
Apple states that WeatherKit uses location information only to provide weather forecasts, does not associate it with personally identifiable information, and does not track location between requests. Apple processes weather requests under its Privacy Policy. See Apple’s WeatherKit information for more details.
Available wind estimates may be stored on your device with a saved distance result. They are weather-service estimates, rather than readings from a wind sensor on your iPhone. ThrowLab does not send your throw videos or analysis results to Apple Weather. Wind estimates are not sent to Firebase Analytics.
Motion data
The app uses device-motion information to support capture and distance measurement. This information is used locally and is not transmitted to ThrowLab.
Data stored on your device
- Saved analysis results and temporarily imported video
- Discs saved in your bag and their ratings
- Distance results, accuracy information, elevation estimates, available wind estimates
- Temporary location information for an unfinished distance measurement
- App settings and preferences
Deleting the app removes its locally stored data. ThrowLab cannot recover information that was never sent to a server.
Disc catalog lookup
When you search for a disc to add to your bag, ThrowLab may request matching public disc information from a catalog service. This lookup uses the disc name you type. Your throw videos and analysis results are not included.
Subscriptions and payments
Apple processes ThrowLab Pro subscriptions through the App Store. ThrowLab does not receive your card number or billing address. Apple’s handling of purchases is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
App analytics
ThrowLab uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and improve its features, reliability, and subscription experience. Firebase may collect an anonymous app-instance identifier, app version, device and operating-system information, approximate geographic information derived from an IP address, app lifecycle information, subscription or purchase-event information, and interactions with app features.
ThrowLab may record events such as opening a feature, beginning or completing an analysis, adding a disc, using Compare, viewing Sessions or Milestones, opening the subscription screen, and completing a purchase. ThrowLab does not send Firebase your videos, video frames, tracked coordinates, disc names, search terms, throw selections, measurements, or analysis results. Those remain stored and processed on your device.
App analytics is used to understand feature adoption, identify where users leave the analysis process, improve the app, and evaluate subscription conversion. ThrowLab does not request App Tracking Transparency permission. Analytics information is not sold or used by ThrowLab for cross-app tracking or personalized advertising. Google processes this information according to its privacy and security terms.
Website analytics and cookies
The ThrowLab website uses Google Tag Manager and, with your permission, Google Analytics 4 to understand page visits, navigation, and interactions such as App Store link clicks. Analytics storage is denied until you select Accept analytics in the consent banner. If you decline, analytics storage remains disabled. Your choice is saved in your browser so the website can remember it. You can reopen Cookie settings from the website footer at any time.
Google may process analytics information according to Google’s Privacy Policy. ThrowLab does not use website analytics to access your throw videos or in-app analysis results.
Tracking
The ThrowLab iPhone app does not track you across apps or websites, sell personal information, or share information with data brokers or advertisers. Firebase associates app analytics with an anonymous app-instance identifier so activity from one installation can be understood across sessions. This identifier is not a ThrowLab account and is not connected by ThrowLab to your name or email address. Website analytics is optional and controlled by the consent choice described above.
Children
ThrowLab does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app has no account system, children should use it only with appropriate supervision during physical activity.
Your choices
You control the videos you select and the information stored locally in the app. You can delete saved items in ThrowLab or delete the app to remove its local data. The iPhone app has no ThrowLab account or named server-side profile. Event email signup data is handled separately as described above. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to the address below.
